Tarbell Estates & Hartford Escrow redesigned!

When I took over the web design position at Tarbell, I made it a challenge to redo/redesign all of the websites that I manage. With Tarbell.com completed, I engaged in the redesign of Tarbellestates.net and HartfordEscrow.com. As of May 5th, 2012 they are complete! Next up, a much needed facelift for tarbellcareers.com.

Tarbell.com website design completed!

As of February 2012, I have completed the Tarbell.com redesign. The redesign included not only aesthetics but also all the "behind the scenes" coding. The previous designer used old table based layouts which was hard to manage and not SEO (Search Engine Optimization) friendly. The current site uses up to date XHTML and CSS.

What do I do?

I'm a Graphic & Web designer (freelancing occaisionally) working in an in-house marketing department for a local real estate company. My print duties consist of providing design support for the CEO, President and agents. My web duties include maintaining the company's website, designing fresh marketing material for our exclusive Design Gallery, & currently working on giving our site a well deserved, long overdue face-lift.

How do I do it?

Here’s a list of tools I use on a regular basis: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash, CorelDraw, HTML, XHTML, CSS(3), Javascript(jquery), and of course notepad++ and other similar text editors. I work on a PC at work and a MAC at home so I'm comfortable in both platforms.

What am I doing now?

Currently I’m dabbling in Wordpress just to stay up to date with the “kids”. While it’s a great tool for blogging and templated websites, I find building sites the old fasion way is best, especially for designers.

I’m constantly updating and even re-designing my portfolio site; it’s really turned into an addiction!

I’m starting to do more freelance work on the side just to keep my hobby and passion fullfilled and build on my portfolio.

When I’m not behind the computer, I also enjoy taking photos with my DSLR camera. I wouldn't call myself a professional photographer but I am producing nice shots and having tons of fun!

Eric Nguyen's Artistic Background:

Eric Nguyen's artistic interests started when he was about 4 years old. Barely being able to draw a straight line, he picked up a pencil and paper and started doodling. His doodling soon turned into refined sketches. Those sketches aided him to a first place prize at my elementary school's drawing and coloring contest. Soon, Eric found myself taking art classes at the junior high level. Then it stopped! Throughout high school and the early college years, his doodling experiences were non-existent. Then the bug hit once again. He took some art classes at a local community college, transferred to Cal State Fullerton as a Graphic Design major and never looked back.

Winning a few logo design contests, helping others with graphic solutions, and tinkering with different graphic softwares fed his graphic urges until he was employed full-time.

In 2004, Eric found myself working for Tarbell, Realtor's in-house marketing department. He started out as an entry level Graphic Designer and creatively climbed my way up to the role of Lead Designer. Currently, some of his duties include developing new designs for Tarbell's exclusive Design Gallery, quality control of printed materials, aiding the graphic needs of the CEO, President, and #1 Agent, and updating and maintaining Tarbell and affiliate websites.

Around 2009, he equipped myself with a DSLR camera. A whole new creative outlet sprouted from my creative roots. He instantly fell in love with the quality images these cameras produced. He's currently looking into doing freelance photography work to build upon my portfolio. He's anticipating great things in the future.

Eric is currently steam rolling into the exciting world of web design. He loves it so much that it has really turned into more of a hobby. Give him Notepad and a browser and it will keep him busy for hours!
